4/28/2025 0 Comments Update for 4/28/25 & 4/29/25It's true. We are in the lull of waiting for green fruit to ripen. Strawberry season is not over, our pickers are just picking faster than the plants can ripen up green fruit! Picking will be extremely limited for Monday and Tuesday. Hopefully the lack of weekend picking pressure will give the berries much needed time. Picking should be decent again by Thursday (farm is always closed Wednesdays).
Did you know that it takes a green berry 3 - 5 days to ripen? The paint-a-pot activity is a great way to stay in the shade and take the time to plant a seed! Do you remember the last time you planted a seed? Can't wait to have you out to enjoy the weather, the ice cream, and the farm activities. Let's hurry up and wait on that fruit to ripen.

4/26/2025 0 Comments Update for Sunday 4/27 PickingStrawberries will be hard to find Sunday. We had a lot of red leave the field Saturday with not much time for green fruit to ripen in time for Sunday's pickers. If you are visiting Sunday it will be essential to look under the leaf canopy to find the ripe fruit underneath. This is the way of professional strawberry pickers. Kid's are especially good at this, too, so it's hard to tell if professionals are kids or kids are professionals.
We have super fun activities to do at the farm! One of the funniest videos you will take in a long time is a video of your child on the goat racer! Trust me, if you bring out a kid, you have to get a ticket to that activity! Goats have 4 stomachs so they are always hungry and the goat food is cheap. We have a miniature brahma bull in our pen who likes pets, yes, that is how he looks. He isn't a donkey with a tumor. LAST CALL FOR STRAWBERRY LEMONADE! If visiting Sunday be sure to get one of the last cups of our famous homemade strawberry lemonade of the year! Hope to see you soon! 4/25/2025 0 Comments Friday afternoon 4/25April is rolling right along isn't it? Here is the skinny for the weekend: Smiling faces, last Spring weekend for Concessions (Strawberry Lemonade), lots of fun activities, spaces to run, cold Ice Cream, hungry animals and just a few Strawberries. The Strawberry picking will be slow and require effort. Look under the leaves of the plants to find the ones the 'walkers' missed (folks that just walk down the row, only bending over when they see one from above). Morning arrivals are preferred as the picking will get harder as the day goes on. The Flower field is finished until Sunflowers get here in Mid May.
Long term Strawberries: we actually have a good many strong white blooms that could develop into Mid May berries IF the weather doesn't get too hot. I believe we will have a week or two of slim pickings and then maybe a little boost just about the time Sunflowers get here. Time will tell. We still have a few muddy spots, of course they would be where the Strawberries are, but the parking lot, green belts and all the main areas are nice and dry. The weather forecast looks outstanding the next few days. It will be a wonderful outing and a little less expensive without boxes of berries to purchase. Hope to see you soon! 4/24/2025 0 Comments Thursday evening 4/24 A wonderful 3/4 inch of rain yesterday made a little bit muddy Strawberry picking today.. A light rain is falling here as we speak. It looks like a few pop up showers are on the radar with no real organization in our area. The only muddy spots currently are between the Strawberry rows in the low spots. The green belts, parking lot and walking areas are all in good shape. Old shoes or rubber boots would be best if coming tomorrow.
Regarding Strawberries: it is a treasure hunt. Once set of folks will say they didn't find a thing when a person or two behind them comes up with a full box. 300 pounds were picked today and I imagine that we will have almost that amount tomorrow but ...... it is going to be a hunt and you might have to get in the mud to get them. The past two weeks have been mild weather and we are seeing some strong nice Strawberry blooms. Will they set? will we have Strawberries in Mid May? - time will tell but it looks promising The Flower field is finished ....... for now. Sunflowers are growing well and the hope is to be picking them by May 11 - 15. The field looks wonderful and we are exited about their possibility. The activities are going well, goats are hungry (3 newborns today) and people seem to be having a good time. The Farm is open rain or shine - Hope to see you soon! 4/22/2025 0 Comments Tuesday afternoon 4/22Please remember: The Farm is closed all Wednesdays.
Today was busier than I expected. Quite a few folks came out and picked a few Strawberries but it was not easy picking. Gone are the days when the berries jump in your box. Picking now takes effort and is a hunt. The other afternoon I saw a man come up with a full box of red berries. I looked on in amazement as I said "wow, congratulations on finding nice berries at this time of day". He said "It was easy, I just moved the leaves around and looked in the center of the plants. Everyone else is just walking right on by the berries". Thursday morning is always the best day to pick because we are closed Wednesday. This week will be the same but it will not be great picking, probably a hunt. I believe we will be in a pattern the next few weeks where we pick 100 or 200 pounds per day but that will be spread out over 8 miles worth of Strawberry row. The Farm will continue to be open with activities for the children, hungry goats, lots of space to run. Folks are still having a great time and without many Strawberries - it is a less expensive visit. A chance of rain tonight which will be nice as the last rain has soaked in so be prepared for a little mud if coming Thursday Hope to see you soon! 4/20/2025 0 Comments Sunday evening 4/20 A glorious Easter indeed. After a nice rain shower last night, the sun came out in the afternoon and made for a very pleasant day. That shower was just exactly what the Farm grounds needed, everything is a brighter green today. The activities are fun, goats are hungry and there is lots of green spaces to run in. Entire families seem to be having a good time which makes us very happy.
I was happy with the Strawberries found today. While not great picking, I think we will have Strawberries to pick tomorrow as well. We will be picking on both sides of the road tomorrow. The field on the Left Side (turn left at the Field Trip sign) will have a few more berries to pick and is a little better drained than the main fields. The rain is soaking up nicely so I don't expect much mud tomorrow except in the occasional low spot.. Hope to see you soon! 4/20/2025 1 Comment Sunday morning 4/20Happy Easter! Six tenths of an inch this morning here at the farm. A wonderful rain that will spruce everything up nicely The rain is soaking in nicely and only a few puddles remain. We will be open today at 1pm with smiling faces, some Strawberries and Flowers to pick, hungry goats, concessions and fun activities. The only mud you will find is in the aisles between the Strawberry and flower rows. Old shoes or boots might be your best choice for footwear today. Hope to see you soon!
4/19/2025 0 Comments Saturday evening 4/19 Another wonderful day. I saw a ton of happy smiling faces even though we did not have enough Strawberries to pick. The Farm is open tomorrow 1pm to 5pm. The Strawberry and flower picking will be tough but we will still be having a great time with everything else.
There is a good chance of rain tonight and in the morning. Our forecast calls for clearing skies through the afternoon. tomorrow. A little rain sure would be nice as the wind picked up this afternoon and made some nasty dust devils. We feel a bit sand blasted and wind blown at the moment. Our Easter church service starts at 10am so I should be back to the farm by noon. I will let you know here asap IF we have any inclement weather that would affect tomorrows visit. If I don't put up a post by noon - assume all is ok here. With the threat of rain and it being Easter we might have reduced pressure on the fields tomorrow so I have hope we will have Berries to pick on Monday as well. Hope to see you soon. Happy Easter everyone! 4/18/2025 0 Comments Friday afternoon 4/18 It was a great day. A bit (a lot) windier than I expected. Tomorrow we have a healthy chance of rain in the afternoon, The Farm is pretty dry so a little moisture sure would be nice to settle the dust and wash us off a bit.
The Strawberry and Flower fields have been picked pretty hard. We will only be picking in the fields at the main farm tomorrow. I would expect to see some berries and flowers picked first thing in the morning. The earlier you can make it out, the better the picking will be. Everyone will be allowed to pick and there is usually something to pick throughout the day, I am simply saying it gets harder and harder to find berries and flowers the longer the day goes. The animals are loving the attention, there is lots of room to run and play, the activities are fun, the Lemonade at the Concessions is delicious, the Ice Cream has been cold and folks seem to be having a good ole fashioned relaxing time. Come on out and enjoy the day with us, we would love to have you. 4/17/2025 0 Comments Thursday afternoon 4/17The weather this morning was glorious, I hope tomorrow is the same.
I am happy to report that Strawberry picking tomorrow morning will be better than I expected. At this time of year it is always best to come early just to make sure you have the best selection to choose from and the temperatures are more pleasant. Tomorrow, the best picking will by far be in the FIELD TRIP field. Coming from Marble Falls, turn LEFT at the Field Trip sign. We have boxes and cashiers there as well. When that field gets cleaned out I will shut the gate and direct everyone to the right side of the road. We won't know how much will be available for Saturday and Sunday until we see how many pickers show up tomorrow, be sure to check here for updates. Still a few Ranunculus flowers to pick but they are going fast. The Flower field has been a bright spot this year yielding beautiful bouquets of .gorgeous flowers. Unfortunately their season is just about finished. The Farm grounds look great, maybe a little dry but overall fantastic. Comfortable clothes and shoes are recommended. The Fun Spring Activities will be going, Concessions will be open, the Homemade Ice Cream and Lemonade will be cold and the goats will be hungry. There is no admission or parking fee here, we suggest just walking around a bit, get a feel of the farm and then purchase some tickets if you decide to do something. Hope to see you soon! |
